68 Hours Later: Congressman Young Still Silent After Trump Breaks with Pence on Syria & Fellow Republicans Abandon Ship

INDIANAPOLIS – It’s now been 68 hours of “serious consideration” from Congressman Todd Young since Friday afternoon on whether or not to continue his support of Donald Trump, but it’s obviously not been enough time for him to make his political calculation.

Congressman Young has not only yet to give Hoosiers a clear answer on where he stands on his party’s presidential nominee, he has also refused to weigh in on Donald Trump’s statement at last night’s debate that he disagreed with Governor Pence on Syria, all while Trump praised the actions of al-Assad, Russia and Iran.

As conservative blogger Erick Erickson put it: “And there you have it – Trump throws Pence under the bus.”

Young’s silence is even more conspicuous because while he has been making a political calculus on how to handle his Trump support, leading Republicans from across the nation have finally found the moral courage to disown Donald Trump, including:

  • Secretary Condoleezza Rice
  • Sen. John Thune
  • Sen. John McCain
