INDems to Rep. Spartz: Your “No” Vote on the American Rescue Plan Will Follow You Throughout Reelection Bid

The American Rescue Plan delivered $13.4 million to Spartz’s hometown of Noblesville, Hamilton County received more than $65 million from the federal relief package

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today provided fair warning to Congresswoman Victoria Spartz after she announced her reelection yesterday morning: her “no” vote on the American Rescue Plan (ARP) will follow her everywhere during the campaign, and every voter will learn how she put her glaring partisanship ahead of Hoosier families.

On March 1, Representative Spartz falsely claimed only a small percentage of the Rescue Plan actually addressed COVID-19, calling the package a “wish list” of the Democrats. That must mean Spartz considered providing $65 million in relief to Hamilton County, $13.4 million to her hometown of Noblesville, $12.4 million for Hamilton County schools, and millions of dollars to towns like Carmel, Fishers, Sheridan, Cicero, Atlanta, etc. as a “wish list” of Indiana Democrats.

Rep. Spartz is a textbook example of how out of control the partisanship has become for the Indiana Republican Party. They would rather vote “no” to much-needed COVID-19 relief for Hoosier families than deliver for them when it matters most. Republicans can abide by their rigid politics while Democrats will continue to deliver for Indiana. Supporting the American Rescue Plan was just the beginning as Democrats look forward to supporting the upcoming infrastructure package, the American Jobs Plan

IndyStar: Four months into office, Spartz announces reelection campaign in 5th Congressional District

“The district, which stretches from south of Broad Ripple up to the city of Marion, has been shifting more to the left politically over the last decade, driven at least in part by the ideological shift in Hamilton County.” […]

Still, the district is one of 22 around the country and the only one in Indiana on national Democrats’ initial “Districts in Play” list for the upcoming 2022 election.

State Democrats were quick to condemn Spartz’ short record in Congress on Monday.

‘Congresswoman Victoria Spartz voted against the American Rescue Plan,’ the party said in a statement, ‘which delivered $1,400 checks to Hoosiers and millions to her district’s counties and towns. We are ready to hold her accountable for putting her extreme partisanship ahead of Hoosier common sense.’

Every Republican in Congress voted against the relief package referenced by Maloney. Spartz previously said she voted against it because she thinks only a small portion of the bill goes toward defeating COVID-19.

Let’s elect more Hoosier Democrats
We can't sit this one out.
