Don’t Forget: Top Republicans Work To Rebrand GOP As Party Of Working Class

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today called on the Members of the Indiana Republican Party to join Indiana Democrats in supporting President Joe Biden’s American Jobs Plan (AJP), because it would strengthen our economy, improve American manufacturing, and create more good-paying Hoosier jobs.

More than 17-percent (541,000) of Indiana’s workforce is in manufacturing, and it accounts for about 28-percent of the state’s total economic output. The American Jobs Plan will contribute more than $300 billion to help retool American manufacturers – including here in the Hoosier State. But the best part: the AJP will include the PRO Act, which will strengthen Indiana’s unions, provide additional protections for workers, and weaken the so-called “right to work” legislation passed by Indiana Republicans in 2012.

Indiana Democrats believe this is the time for the Indiana Republican Party to join us in delivering this opportunity for hard-working Hoosiers. Republicans like Congressman Jim Banks have consistently claimed – as recently as yesterday – they want to support working-class families. The American Jobs Plan would do that. Opposing the AJP would mean Indiana Republicans aren’t serious because they’ll just put their partisanship ahead of getting things done for workers, unions, families, and the economic future of Indiana.

This crossroads moment for the state is why the Indiana Democratic Party supports the American Jobs Plan. On top of protecting the state’s proud union workers, the AJP would create numerous good-paying jobs, rebuild Indiana’s roads and bridges, and set up our nation to outcompete China in the future. Democrats are ready to get to work and responsibly get things done for all Hoosiers — regardless of politics.

Let’s elect more Hoosier Democrats
We can't sit this one out.
