Todd Young to Admit He Voted to Defund the Police in Avon

ICYMI: The entire Indiana GOP voted “NO” on $350 billion for law enforcement – including for officers in the Hoosier State

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Democratic Party, the organization that advocates for the future of Indiana and its families, today called on U.S Senator Todd Young to come clean about his vote that defunded law enforcement across the nation. Young is expected to hold a partisan photo-op with police officers in Avon, but what the Senator won’t tell them is that he voted “NO” for $350 billion of investments specifically for first responders – thanks to the American Rescue Plan

WHAT: Todd Young to Admit He Voted to Defund the Police

WHERE: 7124 E County Road 150 S, Avon, IN 46123

It’s worth repeating: Todd Young’s “NO” vote on the American Rescue Plan was a vote to defund the police. Indiana GOP Chairman Kyle Hupfer described the GOP’s opposition to law enforcement as a “great campaign to run on”.

“There’s no way around it: Todd Young voted to defund the police, and today’s event in Avon is a photo-op to cover up his decision to put his D.C. partisanship ahead of Indiana’s law enforcement,” said Lauren Ganapini, executive director of the Indiana Democratic Party. “If Senator Young was honest, he’d come clean about his record now. But, he won’t and Democrats like Tom McDermott will be happy to crisscross Indiana to share with Hoosiers how Todd Young is a waffling politician who doesn’t ‘Back the Blue’ and puts his Washington interests ahead of their future.”

In contrast, Indiana Democrats have always backed the blue through action. Democrats like André Carson and Frank Mrvan are the only ones who voted for the American Rescue Plan which included the following investments for Hoosier Police:

Indiana Democrats will always stand with law enforcement while the Indiana GOP only cares about national partisanship.

Let’s elect more Hoosier Democrats
We can't sit this one out.
